One More Killed in Hwy 7 Crash
OPP say a 24-year-old Elgin man is dead after a two-vehicle crash this morning on Hwy. 7 east of Carleton Place.
Police have not released the name of the dead man pending notification of his next of kin. Hwy. 7 in the area of the accident had been closed for about six hours, but reopened just prior to noon.
The accident occurred at about 6 a.m. when a westbound passenger vehicle collided with an eastbound delivery truck in the eastbound lane. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch. The Elgin man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 48-year-old Arnprior man driving the truck was treated for his injuries at Carleton Place hospital and released.
Police say the highway is expected to remain closed at least until the early afternoon.
